Hi! I’m Temilade Amede, the founder and CEO of Slayth — a platform dedicated to empowering people to take control of their hair journey through community, education, and inspiration. With over 10 years of hands-on experience doing my own hair, I’ve mastered styles like box braids, cornrows, twists, and more — all without a salon visit. I started self-braiding out of necessity while in college. As a tender-headed girl on a budget, I couldn't always afford the time, cost, or pain that came with salon visits. So I picked up my comb, some patience, and a lot of YouTube searches — and I began to learn. Over time, I found freedom, creativity, and confidence in my own hands. Today, I braid for both functionality and fun — knowing I can control the look, tightness, and style of my own hair, on my own schedule. I created this course because I believe you can do the same. Whether you’re tired of the “hey boo” texts, want to save on salon bills, or simply want to finally feel good doing your own hair — BIY (Braid It Yourself) is for you. My biggest goal is to help you gain the confidence and skills to master protective styles for yourself — and to feel empowered while doing it. I’m excited to be your guide, cheerleader, and braid buddy every step of the way!
